Recently, I have been creating some art that I am so excited about. It’s still my same whimiscal art but with a little more complexity while maintaining the same clean linework. There is no secret I love playing with color and these mardi-art illustrations are full of it. And, yes I do commissions in this style! Here is a peek at the process:
I start with a photo inspiration and I do a prelim pencil sketch. Then I transfer that to my premium paper on a light table. I apply the ink lines and then block in the color and add shading. I have also begun to create a few of these works on large canvases and gotten exciting results. There does not seem to be enough time in a day to do all the things I have planned these days! Definitely have found my mojo lately!
Check out my facebook page for daily creations as they come off my art table! Here are a few recent mardi-arts. Most all of them I can customize with your animal’s name. On the ones below, I put the pet’s name on the bucket in the sand and on the wine bottle. And prints are available in several sizes on my ETSY site. (I have over 250 images on my ETSY page) so hop on over there! Surely, there will be something there that you can’t live without!
Next up on my show schedule is the First Saturday Art Market in the Heights on 19th street. July 7th is the date and it’s in the evening (6 pm to 10 pm). I went to the June event as a spectator and thoroughly enjoyed myself. It’s good to do that sort of thing now and then. See how it is as a buyer and not a seller. Anyway, this is really a fun event in the summer. The evening is filled with live music, art, and wine. What more do you need? Bring a fold up chair, park yourself and groove to the music. Or just wander through all the tents listening to the tunes with your glass of wine and soak up some art. I will be there in July with lots of new art. Stop by and see me!
Speaking of new art, I am doing some brand new stuff that I am really excited about and you can see it for reals at the art market. A little sampling below… to see my new creations as they come off the drawing table, be sure and follow me on Facebook. I have a very active fan page and things are often sold as I post them there. So check it out HERE. Continue reading
So my obsession for the last few weeks has been mardi-gras inspired art, at least that’s what I’m callin’ it, because of the bright colors and mask-like feel of the art. Take a look at my Mardi-Art Facebook Album to see some fun stuff I’m working on. Mardi-on!
Spring Festivals are in the books and next up as far as showings is the Reliant Dog Show in July. I am happy to have the break between now and then so I can get focused on my commissions back-log. Lots of fun things to paint in the coming weeks. Very excited and feeling blessed to be so busy painting and drawing your critters. Continue reading
I am so excited about this event on Saturday, April 28th, that will benefit Spay-Neuter Assistance Program! Door prizes, drawings for warm fuzzies and paintings! Eats, drinks, etc. It will be great fun and all for a terrific cause. Please come out! Come casual and have fun! (Hollywood Frame Gallery is located at 2427 Bissonet)
Very excited about this new painting. It’s bright, busy, and full of fun stuff to look at! The original work is 36″ x 60″ and was a commission for someone. Fine prints are available on my ETSY site HERE if you’re looking for something whimsical for your wall. If you would like to see some close up shots of various parts of this work, check out my facebook photo album for it. Everyone seems to have their favorite critter in this piece. Mine’s the poodle and shepherd mix with the scarf that are next to the tree with the cat/squirrel action. What’s your fav?
4 x 4 Warm Fuzzies are a new line of art I am doing on acid free colored papers. I am in love with the feel that the color from the paper gives to the art. I do at least one new one every day and post it on my facebook fan page. Many have sold as soon as I post them, so I guess you like them too …Anyway, check out my fan page to see them as they are created. A few samples of them are below…
Also, check out my ETSY site for my Warm Fuzzie Prints. They are only $29 each and come in an 8 x 10 mat with the title and signature on the mat. I add new ones there every day. Lots to look at for the animal lover!
She did! She did say free custom SNart!!…
In honor of reaching a milestone of 3000 fans on my facebook page, I am giving away a custom SNart to some lucky animal lover. All you need to do to be in the running is to e-mail me your favorite photo of your critter. The winner will be announced here on my website on Monday, January 16th. Good luck! Continue reading
If you are new to my site and don’t know what a SNart is, it’s fine art done on a 3 x 3 sticky note. I use acrylic paint, ink, and prisma colors for these small works. And recently I have been doing a lot of commissioned ones as groupings. The one below was commissioned as a gift for someone that has nine kitties. Others have done a grouping of all their animals past and present in one frame. Love that idea! Interested in finding out more about SNarts? Click on the menu button “SNarts!” to see lots of examples. And if you are interested in doing your own grouping or one as a gift, contact me for more info and a quote.
I now have a fun line of holiday cards to choose from (11 different box sets) on my Cafe Press site. Below are just 2 of the whimsical cards you could be sending out this season. Check ’em all out HERE (Just click on “Whimsical Holiday Cards”)! Continue reading
My next event is the Houston Cat Show on August 27th and 28th and I am “purrty” excited about it. I have never been to a cat show, so first of all, I am just looking forward to being immersed in “all things cat”…Also, I am thrilled that my artwork will be featured on the cover of the event program.
