Muttinet at the Mewvies!

Very excited to share my largest painting to date (48 x 72)… so much detail here. I am sure you can find all sorts of personalities that you have sat near while at the movies in this work. Plus, I am there somewhere… can you find me?

Muttinet at the Mewvies will be debuting at the Women of Winter Street Exhibition on Friday, January 12th, 6 pm to 9 pm. I hope you can make it to either the opening reception or the show’s continuation during open studios on Saturday from 12 noon to 5 pm. After that, this piece will have its home in my studio so I invite you to come make #yourbestscarymovieface in front of my painting at some point!

And a few of my favorite pics in front of the painting as it was in progress…

When I was in college, I was captivated by a painting at a nearby art museum: “The River Seine at Chatou” by Andre Derain. I would go and sit in front of it every week. Something about the colors…It JUST made me feel good. No matter what my mood, when I looked at it, I smiled. When I left, I felt happy. My goal as an artist is to do for others what Derain did for me...to lighten a mood and bring a smile….a pretty top-knotch way to make a living in my book!
