Home with the Armadillo…

It’s December and that means Armadillo Christmas Bazaar is around the corner. This will be my fourth year to do this show and it remains one of my most challenging AND rewarding endeavors as a creative. This year it’s a 12 day show… 11 hours a day for 12 days would send many artists running in the other direction because of the long hours and the amount of inventory that is needed. But I will tell you, this show is a winner. It is run like a machine and the people who put it on are fantastic. All year long, I have this show in the back of my head. Everything I create, I think “How would this work for the Dillo?”

If you find yourself in the Austin area around the holidays, this is a must attend event. You will see 180 national and local award-winning artists (I feel blessed to be among them) and three rockin’ musical acts each day! Our attendees travel from all over to be a part of the Dillo. Come soak up the holiday spirit while listening to great music and shop for truly unique holiday gifts. You will not be disappointed! I am in booth J-8 this year which is near the front entrance… just look for color! Happy Holidays Y’all!

When I was in college, I was captivated by a painting at a nearby art museum: “The River Seine at Chatou” by Andre Derain. I would go and sit in front of it every week. Something about the colors…It JUST made me feel good. No matter what my mood, when I looked at it, I smiled. When I left, I felt happy. My goal as an artist is to do for others what Derain did for me...to lighten a mood and bring a smile….a pretty top-knotch way to make a living in my book!
